Today’s Workout:
Ran outside: 7 miles/ 60 min
After Thursdays run I left the gym with a lot of pain in my foot. I’m not sure what the problem is. Maybe over use? Could be something else? I have no idea. I decided to take Friday off from running to rest my foot in hopes that it would be fully recovered for todays 12 mile progression run. That did not happen. I woke up and my foot was still hurting. I thought that I could make it through the 12 miles but my progression run turned into a painful 7 miles. I think that I could have finished the 12 but I probably wouldn’t be able to walk after.
It is always so hard to tell yourself that you can’t run. I wanted so badly to keep running and finish my run but I knew that it was probably smarter to stop. I think I would rather stop at 7 miles than finish and be injured for weeks. Resting is so hard for me but I am learning that it is completely necessary for training. I hope that it will start healing up soon so that I can come back stronger in my training!
On Thursday Brian and I went to the gym and he taught me some strength exercises. I learned that since I stopped playing college softball I have become extremely weak. My biggest area of weakness is probably push ups and pull ups. It was TOUGH! We did a lot of other stuff but it was mostly just a run through of him showing me how to do everything so that when he leaves I can do it alone. After the work out we went out for Thai food.
Brian got Pad Thai and I tried to keep it healthy with chicken and vegetables ( brian ate my rice and of course left overs)
Then Friday I had a mock of my hair for the wedding! It was a lot of fun! My mom went with me and I was able to get a better idea of what my hair will really look like on the wedding day.
Sorry- my eyes wouldn’t open for some reason. I must have been super excited. I would put a picture of my hair all done but I don’t think that is allowed…
After I got my hair done my mom and I went over to Whole Foods and I bought A LOT of nuts! YUM! so many options.
I hope that everyone is having a good weekend!!!
How do you handle running injuries?

New to your blog- loving it!
Good for you to quit and take care of your foot. I’ve had to cut short or skip quite a few runs the past few weeks and it depresses me. But taking care of my body is far more important in the long run. (Pun intended!)
Thanks!! it is so hard to take time off! Especially when the weather is so nice!!! Can’t wait to run again!
You did good listening to your foot! It’s frustrating but it will be better in the long run.
I think your blog is adorable. We have a lot in common – except I’m quite an older version! I love how you incorporate your faith into your blog. He is a huge part of my running journey and has brought me amazing peace about my body and self care. Keep up the good work!
