Good morning- we finally have internet connection! It is a great day!
I haven’t been able to do faith in my Friday in a couple of weeks so I am so excited about this!
I think something that has definitely been on my heart the past few weeks was the idea of learning to love as Christ does. Being newly married has already shown me how selfish I am and how hard it is to love selflessly. Loving and respecting my husband when I want to just worry about myself takes time and a conscious effort to learn. It is such an exciting thing to learn about and put into practice and most of all they seek Christ throughout all of it! Reading through 1 John 4 has opened my eyes to the love of Christ in so many ways.
What i’ve been learning:
1.) God is love. “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:9-10
-This is so amazing. He loves us so much that he send his son for our sins.
2.) We need to love others.”Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” 1 John 4:11-12
-By loving one another God’s love is m’ade complete in us! It seems so easy and so amazing but often times I lose sight of this promise.
3.) There is nothing to fear.”There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18
– When I was reading the study notes for this verse it said ‘there is no fear of God’s judgement because genuine love confirms salvation‘. We can have confidence on the day of judgement that we are saved in the way that we genuinely love like Jesus did. I find this interesting because I know that I am saved through my acceptance and faith in Jesus Christ (vs. 15) but is is so awesome that I can find confidence in this in the way that I genuinely love others like Christ did.
4.) We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19
– I love this verse. It is so powerful. God is love, therefore all love comes ultimately from Him. Genuine love is never self-generated through ourselves but through Christ.
( a little crafting throw back)
I just wanted to share a little bit of what I have been learning lately. I hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday! We are still waiting for the movers to come so our apartment is still feeling a little bit empty but we are having a blast!
