FAITH IN MY FRIDAY: QUIET TIME

Happy Friday!

My new favorite thing is running before sunrise. My friend and I went on a run this morning and finished it to the sun rising. Why haven’t I been doing this all along!? It makes for such a sweet morning!

I was introduced to this awesome acronym for studying Scripture! Lately, I have been reading but getting easily distracted and I felt that it was because 1. I wasn’t setting aside an allotted time for my quiet time and 2. I was just reading without a purpose. I have started using the acronym SPECK during my reading for guidance and to really get me thinking about what it is that  I am reading. It has been so AMAZING for my time in the Word. I have been learning a lot about God and He has revealed so much to me through His Word.

The acronym SPECK stands for:

Sin to Avoid

Promise to Keep

Example to Follow

Command to Follow

Knowledge about God

Then you can add in an application to it as well.

As I said, it is very helpful to use for guidance when reading a passage so that I am not just sitting there thinking who… what does mean. I have noticed that it helps me really go deeper with Scripture!

The way the Lord has been working in my life through little unexpected ways is so incredible and such a blessing. This little acronym that someone shared with me has taken me from being in a stagnant place in my reading to really seeing the Love of Christ through Scripture and being able to apply it to my life. I am so thankful for that.

I just wanted to share that with you all because it was so helpful for me, maybe it can help someone else as well!
