MY FIRST EXPERIENCE DOING HOT YOGA

Today’s Workout:

HOT YOGA/ 90 mins

My alarm clock went off at 6:15 this morning- and when I say alarm clock I actually mean Brian called me to wake me up ( like he does every morning). I answered the phone with my usual grunt- sounds so sweet, right Brian!?  All I could think was, ‘it’s Saturday and I am volunteering to wake up this early to go to yoga… what is wrong with me’.

I was actually kind of nervous when we left this morning. I have done regular yoga but never hot. I’ve heard mixed things about it. 90 minutes in a room with a temp of 105 degrees sounded intimidating… but  I was so excited about it- I even bought my own mat!

The experience was great! I have never been good at yoga mostly because I don’t have good balance so i’m not going to lie- this was a bit challenging for me. The first 3o minutes of the class went by and I was feeling confident. I hadn’t started sweating that bad yet and the poses were still on my level… but the last hour I was falling out of poses left and right and I think the worst part was that  my hair was sticking to my sweaty body. I felt so gross. ( note to self- wear my hair in a bun for Mondays class). I was drenched in sweat for that last hour of the class but in a way it was very cleansing. I loved it! I am excited for the next class because I want to get better. I love finding areas that I struggle in because it gives me a challenge and pushes me to be better.

Here are the before and after pictures from this morning….

I look overly excited… (it is so hard to take pictures of myself when people are staring at me….awkward selfies…)

BIG difference….( i look a little bit crazy.. sorry bout that)

I got smart after the class and decided it was a good time to put my hair in a bun….

So the verdict on hot yoga: LOVED IT!  Challenging for me in the area of  balance but also very relaxing. Great for my off day from running. I think it set me up nicely for my run with my coach tomorrow. I think that once I move ( in two months!!)  I will want to get more into yoga- it could definitely be a good part of my cross training routine!

After class we went to the farmers market and grabbed breakfast.
